Introduction
In the transformer method, the input AC voltage is first reduced to an appropriate AC voltage using a transformer. This is AC/AC conversion, and the voltage stepped down in this way is set according to the turns ratio of the transformer.
Next, the AC voltage stepped down through the transformer is full-wave rectified in a diode bridge rectifier and converted into pulsating DC.
And, finally, it is the most orthodox AC/DC conversion method that outputs DC voltage with small ripples by smoothing it through a condenser.
